Rosie Walker

June 25, 1940 – May 11, 2022

Rosie Mae Barlow Walker was born in Dies, Texas on June 25, 1940, to Ellis and Floy Barlow.  She was the third child of ten children raised where hard work and the love of the Lord were valued.

At an early age, she accepted Christ at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Dies. She later joined Fontaine First Baptist Church in Houston TX. When her brother became a pastor, she joined Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. In 1983, she became a charter member of Greater Love Church of Houston, TX under the leadership of her brother and Pastor, Steven Barlow.  She remained a devoted and active member in service until her death.

She graduated from Scott High School in May 1959. Afterward, she came to Houston, TX and made it her home. She attended the Waddell School of Cosmetology.  Her skills were honed at the Wood Forest Beauty Salon. Affectionately known as “Miss Rose”, she became the first caregiver at Kids Plus Academy in 1992.  She retired from Kids Plus in 2015.

She had a strong love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Love Church, 4517 Laura Koppe Rd.  The visitation period will begin at 10:00 a.m. Her final resting place will be the Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Dies, Texas.

There are no words to explain the sadness I feel in missing you Auntie. Your beautiful smile, your encouraging words, your abundance of love, your loving spirit of giving and our precious dance moments will be missed. I thank GOD for you being in my life. May GOD continue to give the family comfort during this time.

You will truly be missed by all. I will miss you for whenever you would pass by my house when I was a young boy and took the time to speak or just blow horn when going or leaving your sister Doris house.I take the pleasure of knowing you accepted me for me. I will always have my special memories of you, especially the ones from your last birthday party until our last conversation in your yard with you surrounded by all your flowers.
