Lucille Carter

 

Lucille Juanita Carter entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

She was born on the 17th of May in Weimar, Texas to Shelley and Ella Arthur. She enjoyed a happy family life growing up with her four brothers and and five sisters. Upon completion of her education she moved to Houston, Texas and gained employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  She soon united with Wesley A.M.E. Church which she faithfully attended until her health began to fail.  On December 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to James T. Carter, a union that lasted nearly fifty years until his passing in 1996.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

She leaves to mourn her passing, cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Both services will be held at McCoy & Harrison Funeral Home 4918 Martin Luther King Blvd. Houston, Texas 77021. Interment at Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11 a.m.

I have known Mrs. Carter a long time, she was my friend, and a very kind person. We looked forward to seeking each other on Sunday morning. Will be praying for the family.

I had the pleasure of being present during her many feast at her beautiful home! The enjoyment of her wonderful joyful spirit was always refreshing and uplifting. I first met Mrs. Carter at Wesley AME church. We were sitting on the same Pew and started talking. I found we had similar interests in our outside activities. She was special. Peace and prayers being extended to her loved ones.
