Ida Ashford

October 12, 1930 – May 20, 2024

Ida M. Lewis Ashford was born on October 12, 1930, Double Bayou, Anahuac Texas.  She was the second child born to the union of Mr. Robert Lewis and Mrs. Inez Lewis.

Education was her passion, and it was evident in how she lived her life as a fervent and audacious influencer of learning.  Ida was a special gift from “GOD” and will never be duplicated.  She will forever be remembered and celebrated through those she taught and the services they provided to society through their careers.  She began her forever career as a Texas educator at Double Bayou School, in Double Bayou, Texas for a tenure of three (3) years.  Ida continued to prepare future leaders for the next 37 years in the Crosby Independent School District (CISD), Crosby, Texas.  She transitioned from full time Civil Service, State of Texas in 1995, but continued to educate students serving in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and various Charter Schools over the next 20 years.
