Gerald Jean

September 19, 1950 – February 16, 2022

Gerald Paul Jean, a native of Beaumont, Texas, departed this life on February 16, 2022. He was born on September 18, 1950 to the union of Maxine and Paul Jean Jr.

Gerald gave his life to Christ at an early age and began his educational journey, attending Saint Augustine Seminary in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.

After seminary, he matriculated into Beaumont Independent School District where he graduated from South Park High School in 1968. Gerald then enrolled at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. After college, he began his career at PPG Industries, where he would later retire.

Gerald was united in marriage to Ethel Babineaux and from that union, they raised one son, Dexter Alex Jean. They taught him Christian values and instilled in him the importance of God & family.

Gerald was soft spoken and kind hearted in nature. Affectionately known as, “The Mood Music Master,” he was an avid lover of music and often spent his weekends dee-jaying.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rebecca Marie Jean; and brother, Joseph Rickey Jean.

Gerald will be remembered as a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy to his son, Dexter A. Jean (Rachel) of Lake Charles, LA; grandson, Jaden Jean of Wilmar, AR; brother, Kerry Jean (Ava) of Beaumont, TX; and sisters, Cheryl A. Palmer of San Antonio, TX and Vanessa M. Jean-Burton of Manvel, TX; godson, Billy Fontenot of Houston, TX; goddaughter, Kerri Citizen of Beaumont, TX; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
