In Cherished Memory of My Friend Dontashia Zone
There are chapters of our lives written not in ink, but in the sacred spaces of sisterhood, shared prayers, and enduring faith. Dontashia was a vital part of my story. For years, we walked hand-in-hand through the seasons of life, navigating the beautiful, complex journeys of single parenthood and raising our children within the shelter of the church. We were each other's anchors singing together, praying together, helping one another, and pulling each other up whenever the road grew weary. Our bond was effortless; we were just always cool, with never an argument between us. Even when life kept us busy, the moment we spent that beautiful day worshiping together this past February for Black History Month, it was in perfect harmony. It felt as if we hadn't skipped a single beat.
Though life brought quiet storms and heavy valleys that reshaped her path in ways known only to her and God, they could never dim the truth of who she was. She was a woman of faith, a resilient mother, and a deeply loved friend. I used to sing a song all the time that feels so fitting for her right now: "I’m going to walk, I’m going to talk, I’m going to sing for my heavenly King... I'm on my way to heaven to meet the King." I know without a doubt that Dontashia is doing just that.
I will be there to pay my fullest respects and walk with her all the way to her final resting place. Say hello to all the saints of God's Way MBC for me, Dontashia. I know they will welcome you into glory with open arms, my friend. Because of the unshakeable truth of Jesus, this earthly farewell is not the end. It is simply a faithful, I will see you later in glory.
Rest safely in the Master’s arms, my dear sister. Your struggle is over, and your peace is eternal.
A Scripture of Eternal Refuge
"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Psalm 91:4
