Katherine Thomas

January 11, 1942 – September 12, 2025

Katherine Marie (Kat) Thomas leaves a legacy of faith, strength, love and devotion. Her unwavering love touched so many, leaving a mark of kindness and compassion on everyone who knew her.

Katherine Marie was born on January 11, 1942, in Crocket, Texas. She was God’s precious gift to Willie D and Rosa Lee Wilson. Her family later moved to Houston, Texas. Katherine attended Francis Haper Elementary/Junior High School. Upon her graduation, she went on to attend Booker T. Washington Senior High School, where she graduated. Katherine was the first and only one of the Wilson’s to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Katherine was introduced, by her brother, Tommy, to Phillip Thomas of Houston, TX. They were married and  Phillip welcomed Katherine’s son Dion. The couple had two sons together, Terrence and Derek Thomas. Unfortunately, Phillip passed at the tender young age of twenty-eight, leaving Katherine to provide for her sons. Katherine would later join St. Agnes Missionary Baptist Church (Now known as Pearland Christian Community Church). She was a faithful and obedient servant and was a member of the choir.

Katherine went on to work for Texaco for several years. She also worked at Time Warner for a number of years where she supervised and influenced the lives of several employees. She was a mentor to her family members, her neighbors and who else would come to her for advice.

Katherine loved to cook for her family & friends during the Holidays. She loved to cook potato salad, mustard greens, and cornbread. Like her mother she loved to cook and fortunately we loved to eat. Katherine was well known for making her delicious German Chocolate Cake.

Katherine was a sibling of eight, two girls and six boys. Willie Lois Starks, John D. Wilson, Donald Hugh Wilson,Tommy Lewis Wilson, Harrell Douglas Wilson and Homer James Wilson. Celebrating the life of Katherine Marie Thomas. Katherine who is preceded in death by her father Willie D. Wilson, Rosa Lee Wilson, her six brothers and her sister along with half sister Melvene.

Others that preceded her in death, her nephews  whom she was close to, Aubrey Glenn Starks, Gary Wilson, Gregory Wilson and Damon Wilson.

Katherine leaves to cherish precious memories: her 3 sons, Dion Carter, Terrance (Myrna)Thomas and Derek (Hope) Thomas, her brother, Jackie L.(Janie) Wilson and a host of grandkids, great-grands, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends from near and far.

It saddens our community to lose a great woman of her caliber, a leader, an inspiration to all single women that it can be done here as it is done in heaven. All praises to our God that he gave us her greatness to remember until we all meet again someday 😢💪💪🙏❤️.
